Keelson Systems builds and runs the software small businesses depend on — the website, the back office, and the hosting underneath both — with its own team in Columbia, South Carolina. This page is about why we are called that and how we work.
The name
A keelson is the beam bolted along the top of a ship's keel. It ties the frames to the keel and stops the hull from working itself apart in a seaway.
Nobody who buys a boat looks at it. It is not on the brochure. It is the member that decides whether the rest of the vessel holds its shape under load.
That is the job we took the name for. A small business is held together by things its customers never see: the site that stays up, the invoice that goes out right, the schedule and the books that agree with each other, the release that was checked before it shipped. We build those members and we keep them fastened. Quiet, load-bearing, specified rather than promised.
How we work
In-house
Design, build, hosting, and support are done by our own team. Nothing is handed to a subcontractor, a freelancer marketplace, or an offshore shop. The people who scoped your site are the people who built it and the people who answer when you write in.

Every release is security-scanned before it takes live traffic, not after the first incident. Certificates and domains are renewed before they lapse. Backups run on a schedule. The boring discipline is the product.

No annual contract, no minimum term, thirty days' notice either direction. Your site, your content, and your data are yours and are exported to you if you leave. Customer payments run through your own account and never pass through us. We would rather earn the next month than lock in the next year.
